Getting Warmer: The Soundtrack to my Brain
When I’m not working, I often listen to music. By the time I finish a book, I always have a playlist to go along with it. I build book playlists for a couple of reasons:
1. Music helps me access different parts of my brain and imagine scenes in new ways.
2. Building playlists is way more fun than writing.
Since Getting Warmer‘s mass market edition is being released today (Hey! Maybe you’d like to buy a copy!), I decided to share the playlist, which I’ve uploaded to iTunes:

A couple of the original tunes are missing from here. I got rid of the one opera song (opera ballad? opera dittie?) because I know how most people feel about opera. Including me. The other missing song, Matraca Berg‘s “I Got It Bad,” is one of my all-time favorites, so I was kind of shocked to see that it’s not available on iTunes. It is on YouTube, however. Enjoy!

Song of the Week: “You Got The Style,” Athlete

Back in the old days when we still listened to CD’s, an English friend recommended “Vehicles and Animals,” the debut release of a British band called Athlete. Apparently, Athlete was (and still is) popular in the UK (though they took some flak for their “mockney” accents), but they’ve never caught on in the States.
